Update on High-End Category Four Hurricane Ian in S/W Florida, October 2022
Hurricane Ian slammed into Southwest Florida on Wednesday September 28 with sustained winds of 110 MPH and gusts up to 135 MPH where one of our editors lives in Sarasota County, Florida. The damage was considerable. Further south in Naples, Ft. Myers, Port Charlotte, Cape Coral, and Englewood, the winds were even higher. Damage in those areas from wind and water were catastrophic.
Here's what two great organizations are doing to facilitate the relief effort in Southwest Florida:
Agape Flights
Read the full article here about this ministry. And here’s how they are parnering this month with another relief organization (October 2022).
Agape Flights has paused its delivery of supplies to missionaries in the Caribbean temporarily in order to bring in vital supplies from other parts of the U.S. into Southwest Florida. We caught up with their first stateside relief flight of many as it landed at their facility in Venice. The Embraer 110 was full of relief packages from God’s Pit Crew, a wonderful complement to Agape Flight’s own efforts. Cars lined up and were directed to drive directly through the hangar to the plane to unload.
We watched as a stream of cars pulled right up beside the Embraer 110. Volunteers and Agape staff unloaded the relief supplies they picked up from God’s Pit Crew to waiting cars. God’s Pit Crew “delivers hope, healing and restoration to hurting people in times of crisis.” These two ministries are coordinating seamlessly to bring relief where it’s needed most!
